Katalina Peñaranda was born in Colombia and grew up in Miami, Florida. She attended Florida International University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. Ms. Peñaranda went on to obtain her Juris Doctorate degree from St. Thomas University School of Law. During her time in law school she supplemented her legal education by studying abroad in El Escorial, Spain. She was also an Articles Editor for the St. Thomas Law Review, a Corporations instructor for the Academic Support Program, and a member of the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. Ms. Peñaranda is currently a part-time student at the University of Miami School of Law, where she is studying to obtain her LL.M degree in Taxation. She is fluent in Spanish.
